The Theology of the Cross and Kenny Shopsin

Theologian of the cross, however, "say what a thing is." that is, a characteristic mark of theologians of the cross is that they learn to call a spade a spade. Gerhard O. Forde

I recently saw I Like Killing Flies an informal yet profound documentary on Greenwich Village diner owner Kenny Shopsin. The documentary follows Kenny Shopsin's last year in his diner, which he ran for over 30 years and his move to a new location after loosing his lease. The documentary, while very crass, is filled with Kenny's "half-baked philosophies," which truly call a spade a spade. The last three minutes are absolutely priceless and should be turned into a chapter on human anthropology in a systematic theology text book. It is on Netfilx and must be watched instantly.
